Both groups perform live versions of their new songs on Dingo Music (reviews of said songs will be posted tomorrow by the way) and they kill it. Their live vocals are slaying left and right and I just have to say how much I love all these new girl groups.

Oh My Girl - Balloons (Immortal Song 2)
The girls of Oh My Girl delivered an amazing performance of the old classic "Balloons" (mostly known by younger people as the TVXQ re-make) packed with flawless vocals, powerful dancing and youthful energy. Seunghee and Hyojung are incredibly stable as always but I was particularly impressed by YooA and her spot-on stage presence.

f(x)'s Luna and Park Jin Young - Father
First of all I have to express my love for this song and for Insooni who wrote it and performed it first, as it is a heartbreaking ballad about family, love and hate whose lyrics truly touch me. Luna and her twin sister, who's an opera singer, perform this with such amazing chemistry between them as well as having stunning vocals and emoting skills. There's no way to stop the tears from falling.

Video(s) of the Week #32
I previously wrote a post about Oh My Girl's Seunghee and her marvelous performance of "Cheer Up", but that performance isn't the only good thing to come out of JTBC's singing program "Girl Spirit". Below you'll find some of my favorite performances of the first season (won by Spica's Bohyung) and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
One word: chills.
Both of them are just fantastic performers.
Two vocal powerhouses and sexy Lovelyz, yes please!
The tears are flowing.
This performance hits me right in the heart.

Oh My Girl's Seunghee - Cheer Up (Twice Cover)
On JTBC's new program "Girl Spirit", in which lesser known girl groups vocalists get to perform and compete for a chance to release a single, has so far produced some pretty impressive performance. One of my favorite contenders is Oh My Girl's Seunghee, who already during the first episode did a brilliant cover of SHINee's "Dream Girl", and her recent cover of Twice's "Cheer Up" is nothing less but fantastic. I've had this on repeat like a maniac and I think I might even like it better than the original. The arrangement is great, the vocals are on point and her stage presence and charisma is oozing.

Beast - "Ribbon" (Tipsy Version)
I live for all these semi-drunk performances that Dingo Music are putting out recently, and this one with the boys of Beast singing their newest track "Ribbon" is really funny to watch. It's also quite impressing how stable they are and how good they sound even when consuming alcohol.
PS: I also wanted to post their recent performances on Sketchbook, which were amazing as usual, but they videos couldn't be embedded so I'll just leave the links here and here instead. Enjoy!

Infinite's Myungsoo a.k.a L on "King of Masked Singer"
Arguably one of the best looking men in Korea, Infinite's very own Myungsoo, makes an appearance on "King of Masked Singer" disguised as Darth Vader and blows everyone away when it's revealed that yes, he can actually sing. With a song well within his range and comfort zone he proves that he's indeed more than just a pretty face. As you can imagine I was swelling with pride when I watched this. You go baby boy!

Nam Woohyun - Last Promise (cover)
I was actually going to post this last week but it hadn't been uploaded onto KBS' international Youtube channel so I had to wait, but here it is better late then ever! Eternal darling Woohyun made an anticipated appearance on "Immortal Song 2", several years after his last stunt on the show, and he blew everyone out of the water this this magnificent cover. I was in shock at how good this emotional performance was and so was the audience, as his score came out to be the highest ever scored by an idol on the show. Well done, babe.

Day6's YoungK, Jae and Dowoon - Put Your Records On (Cover)
Three out of five members of one of my absolute favorite rookies Day6 performed this amazing cover of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" on one of their many appearances on radio show Sukira, and I cannot stop replaying the video. It's so simple and casual but everything about it is just flawless. Jae and YoungK both seem much more comfortable singing in English and while both of their voices are great individually their harmonies is what does it more me. Sub-unit please!

Kim Sunggyu - 41 Days (Live in concert)
I don't know if you all know this but this song of off Sunggyu's debut album "Another Me" was one of my most played tracks of 2012, and is one of my favorite K-pop songs ever. Thus I was shocked to find out that he performed it live on Infinite's 2013 tour "One Great Step" and I didn't know about until my friend showed me only a few weeks ago. It's fair to say I've been listening to this live version probably more than what's considered healthy and this awesome live arrangement has reignited my love for this song.

Twice - "Like OOH-AHH", "Bad Girl Good Girl" And "So Hot" On Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook
I always love it when groups perform covers of their senior labelmates' songs, and here we have JYP's new superstar rookie group Twice performing both Miss A's and Wonder Girls' hit songs from back in the day. Although the original versions are hard to beat the talented ladies of Twice do an amazing job and manage to bring their special charms and personalities into the performances as well.

Winner - Baby Baby & Empty @ Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook
I'm still loving Winner's comeback, despite them having terrible promotions once again (seriously, what is YG doing?) but at least they got to perform on Sketchbook this time as well. Last time they were on I loved every single performance, and their cover of 2ne1's "Missing You" was a real highlight. This time I've been obsessively watching their "Baby Baby" performance, which proves more than anything how skilled the boys are. Thank goodness that Sketchbook has an actaul good sound system so that their voice's can be heard loud and clear.

Day6 - Stop And Stare (One Republic Cover)
Day6's many covers are the bane of my existence right now, and I'm so happy that they get the opportunity to do so many of them, both on radio shows and at their concerts. Everyone in this group is so freaking talented and I'm eagerly anticipating their upcoming comeback, whenever that might be.

Favorite Award Show Performances - 2016 SMA & GDA
I do love award shows, and although I love watching my favorites win what I like the most are the many enjoyable performances these shows often offer. Admittedly many of my faves do win awards, but that's just an added bonus. Another enjoyable aspect are the interactions that occur between different group members, and watching them dig and jam along to each other's music. I didn't quite have the will to do a full recap of these award shows, but I did find the time to at least present to you some of my favorite performances.

Exid - Hot Pink (Acoustic soju version)
This is literally the best thing I've heard from Exid in all of 2015, at least performance-wise. I'm not the biggest fan of "Hot Pink" as a song but this acoustic version is delicious. The vocals are on point, the harmonies are flawless and I love it when Hani sings in her lower register. Such a great version.

2015 Year-End Festivals - Favorite Performances
It's my favorite time of the year; the annual year-end festivals! This time I even managed to catch two of them live (KBS' and MBC's) which never has happened before, and I was quite happy with the former and even more ecstatic about the latter. I never got the chance to watch SBS' on the 27th, but from what I've heard it was horrible so I'm not planning on either. Therefore there won't be as many performances included from that festival here, but even more from the two better festivals. MBC had the best one by far (and theirs have been my favorite for three consecutive years now), both in terms of staging, camera work as well as a good blend of special stages, regular stages and pre-recordings. Although it was long it managed to keep my interest up!

BTS - Tomorrow (Jimin Focused)
Yup, this is something that happened. God knows mylust love for Jimin, and this fancam of him performing BTS' song "Tomorrow" might just be the end of me. I already love the song and the choreography in itself is quite amazing, but I'm so just so astonished by this boy and the way he moves his body. I could literally watch this video all day, everyday.

Lovelyz - "Beat It" Acapella Cover on Sketchbook
Girl groups: YES. Girl groups harmonizing: OH YES. Girl groups harmonizing acapella: I'M DEAD AND GONE. In all honesty I love that this trend is coming back to life with several new girl groups performing acapella covers (Mamamoo being one more example), and I love that Lovelyz are showing that they do have vocal talent and aren't just a cutesy, dance-oriented group. This cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" is amazing and was recently featured on a segment on FOX 32, which is truly impressive. You go girls.
