I previously wrote a post about Oh My Girl's Seunghee and her marvelous performance of "Cheer Up", but that performance isn't the only good thing to come out of JTBC's singing program "Girl Spirit". Below you'll find some of my favorite performances of the first season (won by Spica's Bohyung) and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

8 Favorite Female Voices In K-pop

Putting together this list was actually a lot harder than the male one I did months ago, and although I'm not entirely sure why (as there are plenty of female idols with amazing voices) I do have an idea. Since I, a heterosexual female, am the one putting together these lists the boys already have an advantage because they are, well, boys. Naturally I'm more attracted to male voices in general, and while there are some female voices I knew right from the bat I wanted to include here some I had to dig deeper to find. Nonetheless I did manage to put together this compliation of female vocalists, in no particular order, and like with the male version it's in no way representative of whom I find the most skillfull (although those two overlap too of course). Additionally this list only includes idols from K-pop groups, so that means that other extremely talented vocalists might be left out because they're singers rather than idols.

Recent Girl Group Comebacks: Spica, Ladies' Code And Secret

The summer is sadly coming to an end, and as I wipe my tears away in agony over school starting in less than 2 weeks, it's a relief the K-pop industry shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it seems like everyone is having a comeback all at the same time and I felt it was the perfect opportunity to do a combined post about some of my favorite girls that have recently made returns after months of absence.

Watching music videos is one of the biggest joys in following K-Pop, especially those who bring that little extra. There have been plenty of releases for the first half of 2014, and that also means a lot of music videos to accompany the title tracks. These are my personal favorites that have come out during the first 6 months.

My Top 10 Favorite Girl Groups (Part 1)

I originally thought about doing this in a particular order, but it was just too difficult. It was especially frustrating trying to narrow the final 5 groups down, and I had no clear winner either. I'll admit that I'm not as big of a fan of girl groups as I am of bit groups and I'm not as emotionally invested in them either, due to my heterosexual orientation mostly, but I do have a few girl groups on my radar. I've developed a huge admiration for all the women in the entertainment industry, because they have it about ten times harder than their male counterparts, and I've grown fond to many of them along the way. While my liking of various boy groups partly depend on how fast they can make my heart race and how many feels the give me, I like the girl groups that I do much more because of their music and image.

So, here are, in no particular order, my favorite girl groups as of now!

I am currently on my much needed summer break and has been since Tuesday, so I thought it might be appropriate to make a nice little post about some of my favorite summer songs. There are endless amounts of summer inspired songs that make you all happy and cheerful and gets you in the mood for dancing all night long, but these are just some of my favorites that I could think of from the top of my head!

The Best Concepts of Your (My) Favorite Groups

To help ease the Kpop-fan experience, it would sometimes seem appropriate to divide comebacks and releases into eras. This does not only occur within the Kpop universe, but really in any kind of musical context. Other bands that I listen to and follow have also had their specific era that usually involve a period of time in which some kind of promotion was taken place. It makes things easier you know, when you have something to refer back to if you would wish to do so. With each era and each promotion, there's usually a planned out concept that follows. Concepts can both lift or sink a comeback, depending on how well they are executed and how they fit the song. Down below you can read about some of my absolute favorite concepts from some of my favorite groups, enjoy!

Spica Makes A Grand Return With "You Don't Love Me"

This music video was just bound to be awesome, I could feel it as soon as I saw the teaser photos and watched the teaser video. The 50's retro sound and styling was perfect and the vibe of the song totally had me jumping out of my chair in excitement. Spica has been flawless in their last releases, so I had my hopes up for another hit.

The January Teasing Continues

Is it just me or does it feel like everyone is coming back in either the last week of January or in February? There's already been tons of comebacks only the last month, with big acts such as Girl's Day, TVXQ, Rain, Ailee, B1A4 among many, and it seems it won't stop anytime soon. Maybe it's just because the whole field is so overpopulated right now that it seems like there's always someone releasing new material, but what feels like everyday has there been news announcing comebacks of groups and solo artists.

Part of the reason that makes kpop so great are the fantastic music videos that accompany many of the songs. These are my top 10 mv's that were released in 2013, of those that I have seen (in no particular order).
