Rate the Look - AOA's "Short Hair"

I wasn't going to do this because I find this group generally uninteresting ever since they ditched the band concept and jumped on the Brave Brothers wagon, but their latest comeback had some nice points and the styling was definitely one of them.

Song of the Week #18

Nell - Grey Zone

You can never get enough of Nell and their fantastic music. This song, from their latest album Newton's Apple, is just amazing. There are only two lines in the entire song, yet it's still so powerful it almost brought me to tears. If that's not the definition of a great song then I don't know what is.

Eye Candy Saturday - U-Know Yunho AKA The Love Of My Life

If there's one person that just completely and utterly owns my heart, it's TVXQ's leader Yunho. He's literally everything I want in a boyfriend, or husband even, and I feel very jealous of whoever he ends up marrying because that person will be the luckiest in the world. I normally refer to Yunho as "the love of my life", and if we didn't live on opposite sides of the earth and he wasn't 10 years older than me and an acclaimed Hallyu superstar, I'm sure we would fit together like two peas in a pod. But now all I can do is daydream about him while he lives his life knowing nothing about my existence. Life is cruel sometimes.

AOA Return With "Short Hair"

Am I a big AOA fan? No, not really. I like the members and I liked their initial concept and sound, but ever since Confused and the involvement of Brave Brothers I haven't been able to continue keeping my interest up in FNC Entertainment's only girl group. My main problem is the music more than anything else, because they have the talent and the visuals, but it's hard to enjoy them when all their recent songs sounds exactly the same. It's not like with Infinite where the sound of the songs are usually similar but the structures, melodies and instrumentals still have their differences, it's the fact that Brave Brothers keeps on recycling his old material and it's getting extremely boring.

My Top 10 Favorite Girl Groups (Part 1)

I originally thought about doing this in a particular order, but it was just too difficult. It was especially frustrating trying to narrow the final 5 groups down, and I had no clear winner either. I'll admit that I'm not as big of a fan of girl groups as I am of bit groups and I'm not as emotionally invested in them either, due to my heterosexual orientation mostly, but I do have a few girl groups on my radar. I've developed a huge admiration for all the women in the entertainment industry, because they have it about ten times harder than their male counterparts, and I've grown fond to many of them along the way. While my liking of various boy groups partly depend on how fast they can make my heart race and how many feels the give me, I like the girl groups that I do much more because of their music and image.

So, here are, in no particular order, my favorite girl groups as of now!

It's a Sad Day To Be a Nine Muses Fan

Oh, Ryu Sera. I truly wish the best for you because you're amazingly talented and beautiful both inside and out, but I wish most of all for you to stay with Nine Muses. As the news of her departure break, fans grieve over the loss of this group's most valuable member. I do understand why she has chosen not to renew her contract, but it's also really upsetting to hear. Her group have been active for 5 years now and have yet so much to accomplish, and they have worked so hard to achieve so little. Sera marks the 6th member to leave the group since their debut back in 2009, and the agency has confirmed that a new member will be added in time for their scheduled August comeback. I know she will continue pursuing music because that's clearly what she loves doing, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the future for the group. Having this many members come and go so frequently and continuously is not very helpful in helping building a team's image. Additionally, Sera was an essential member for many reasons, and was both the voice, face and vital core of the group. I'm sure she'll be fine, but I know the group will feel different without her.

Sera was never my favorite member, but as a Nine Muses fan I sure had a lot of respect and appreciation for her and her contributes to the team. I hope she's happy with her decision and can continue on doing what she loves. Now let's all look ahead and anticipate Nine Muses' summer comeback, with or without Ryu Sera.

Glad Midsommar!

Hello friends! If you're Swedish or have perhaps visited Sweden during summertime, you are aware of the Swedish summer holiday Midsommar (directly translated as "Mid Summer"), and today it is Mid Summer's Eve! Because this holiday is a very big one where I come from I'm going to be a bit patriotic today and celebrate with my friends and family. But before that I'll just update you on tomorrow because I probably won't be posting anything then (thus no weekly Kpop song) or even the day after that. It's my 18th birthday tomorrow so I'm going to take a break from the blog to just relax and enjoy my new found freedom. I'm soon going to be off camping on an island just nearby from where I live with a bunch of friends, and I'm not sure how everything's going to work out in terms of putting up tents and cooking food and so on, but I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun.

I don't know how many readers there are that celebrate Midsommar, but if you do (or even if you don't), I hope you have a wonderful day!

4 SNSD Members Down, 5 More To Go

In other news, SNSD's Taeyeon is now dating fellow label mate and rising idol superstar Baekhyun of EXO fame. This is the second time in a short period of time that I've woken up to an EXO related scandal, and I don't like it. Both this dating scandal and the lawsuit scandal are pretty big deals and for a group that's still relatively new it's more damaging than anything. I also feel bad for Taeyeon because she is going to get all kinds of threats from crazy EXO fans, and I can already tell this relationship isn't going to last very long. Additionally, is it such a good idea to date someone from your own label? Imagine the awkwardness when they break up and still have to see each other at SMTown events every now and then. More than anything, I was completely taken back by the news of this couple. I knew that Baekhyun have been public about his crush on the SNSD leader, but I thought their relationship was strictly sunbae-hoobae. He's three years younger than her, he seems much more childish and immature, and i seriously think she could do much better but you can't control love as it appears. Although unexpected, I wish them the best and hope they won't get slaughtered by jealous fans. However, I do mourn a bit for Sungyeol and other known Taeyeon fanboys. It could've just as easily been them, but it wasn't.

This marks the fourth member of SNSD that's officially in a relationship of some sort, and this is by far the most random one in my opinion. Yoona and her handsome boyfriend Lee Seung Gi, whom I'm currently watching in "You're All Surrounded", are still at the top of my list. They obviously make the best couple, because they're both incredible well liked in South Korea as well as being unrealistically attractive people. I also really like Sooyoung and her actor boyfriend Jung Kyung Ho as well as the idol combo Tiffany and 2PM's Nichkhun, because I find them compatible in terms of looks and fame. Taeyeon and Baekhyun, however, I find it really hard picturing them together. Oh well, as long as they're happy and content then that's all that matters.

Taeyang Is Back In The Most Glorious Way Possible With "Rise"

When I first got into Kpop, the YG groups were the ones that I was introduced to. It's not that strange at all because they are very popular internationally, especially in the western world, so Big Bang and 2ne1 were certainly at the top of my playlist at that time. As of right now though, I'm really not a YG person in any way. I mean, I like the acts and their music and I'm really excited about Winner's upcoming debut, but I just can't get into any of them. This being said, I have listened very little to any of Taeyang's previous solo material except the classics "I Need a Girl" and "Wedding dress". However, I liked the title track a lot for his new album so I thought I'd give it a try, and boy was I pleasantly surprised.

Song of the Week #17

Kim Sunggyu - Only Tears

Yes I know that this is technically an Infinite song and I do really like the group version, but Sunggyu's stripped down, emotional rendition just breaks my heart. In the best possible way, of course. This shows just how much Sunggyu belongs on the stage and also how much he enjoys it, and it's wonderful to see.

Eye Candy Saturday - Hyuna

It's that time of the week again! I almost forgot about it but fortunately I remembered just in the right time. For this week's edition, I'll be sharing my favorite pictures of none other than 4Minute's dancer, visual and Pikachu impersonator Hyuna. I think she's just about the sweetest, cutest girl ever and yet she's constantly under very harsh, uncalled for criticism about her appearance and performances. I can promise you that if those people were to meet her in real life, they would come around straight away.

Defeat the Heat With Kpop's Best Summer Jams!

I am currently on my much needed summer break and has been since Tuesday, so I thought it might be appropriate to make a nice little post about some of my favorite summer songs. There are endless amounts of summer inspired songs that make you all happy and cheerful and gets you in the mood for dancing all night long, but these are just some of my favorites that I could think of from the top of my head!

The Best Concepts of Your (My) Favorite Groups

To help ease the Kpop-fan experience, it would sometimes seem appropriate to divide comebacks and releases into eras. This does not only occur within the Kpop universe, but really in any kind of musical context. Other bands that I listen to and follow have also had their specific era that usually involve a period of time in which some kind of promotion was taken place. It makes things easier you know, when you have something to refer back to if you would wish to do so. With each era and each promotion, there's usually a planned out concept that follows. Concepts can both lift or sink a comeback, depending on how well they are executed and how they fit the song. Down below you can read about some of my absolute favorite concepts from some of my favorite groups, enjoy!

Rate the Look - VIXX' "Eternity"

Our own supernatural idols VIXX have returned to the scene after 6 months (wow, it really that long since Voodoo Doll?) with another out-of-this-world concept, a genre they've mastered and made their own by now. VIXX pretty much always looks amazing, but has really found themselves a trademark style since On and On back in early 2013, consisting of mostly fitted clothes and suits which can never go wrong in my opinion.

Song of the Week #16

Rainbow - Mach

This song is seriously so good. Why does Rainbow not release songs like these anymore? What the hell is DSP even doing with this group? Even thinking about it makes me angry. The potential was enormous and now all we're left with is a failed attempts at both aegyo and sexy concepts. Bring back this type of music, please!

Eye Candy Saturday - Jaejoong

Once I laid eyes on one certain Kim Jaejoong I never really looked back, because how could you? Whether you like his looks or not, you can't deny that his appearance has an impact and causes a reaction. His face is just not one you see everyday. But there are so many more things I love about Jaejoong, like his wonderfully strange personality, his sweet and caring heart and his talent within numerous areas. On top of being one of the most known visuals of all time, he also possesses one heck of a voice. Like, how can someone be so extraordinarily good at so many things? Not to mention he also, acts, composes, produces and designs. God, this man is perfect.

Infinite starts their "Season 2"

Three years after their first album Over The Top took South Korea by storm and shot the group up the ladder of fame, Woolim Entertainment's breadwinner idol group Infinite is back for a second full length album! I find that Infinite's discography is generally very solid and I have been a fan of basically all their releases so far. Their sound is quite unique and is one they've made their own, although it's liked just as much as it's disliked. Personally, I am almost always in the former category.

Rate the Look - Infinite's "Last Romeo"

The boys are back in town and I'm at the edge of my seat shamelessly drooling over them. Compared to last year's comebacks, Last Romeo has a concept I'm much more comfortable as an Infinite fan, and is a concept I think suits them better as well.

Song of the Week #15

Wings - Hair Short

I am in love with this song and this duo. They are both incredibly gorgeous and have amazing voices and I can see a very bright future for them!
