TBT - Rainbow's "To Me"

Released: April 8th, 2011

Earlier this week we were met with the disheartening news of the disbandment of Rainbow, who decided to part ways after seven years together. This group has always had a special place in my heart and the fact that they're separating is as heartbreaking as it is expected. It makes me happy however to know that they ended it on good terms and I do wish all of the members the best of luck in the future. To honor their memory I've chosen the single "To Me" which is one of my favorite Rainbow songs, and also one that shows this group at the very peak of their career.

You will be missed, ladies.

K-pop March Recap (And Some February Leftovers)

Hello my friends and welcome back! Like I wrote previously I'm going to briefly discuss some of the comebacks I've been keeping an eye while I was away, most of them occurring during the actual time I was in Korea. However like I said there are some February comebacks I never got around to writing before I left so I will include them here as well although very shortly. I hope you are as excited as I am about getting back into the writing flow and starting posting more regularly again :)

Rainbow Find Their Colors In "Whoo"

Caa4FWyUEAEQEBI

Not going to lie, I was pretty excited when I heard that Rainbow were going to make their comeback, and the fact that it was a said to be a title track similar to the legendary "A" made me even more thrilled. Although their latest comeback with "Black Swan" was alright (the mini album was brilliant, though) it wasn't by any means amazing and not at all justifiable to their skills and talents. With newest MV "Whoo" it does feel like Rainbow has gone back to their roots and their earlier days of glory, and above all they've finally truly embraced their group name as their colors shine brighter than ever.

SNS Friday #14 - SMA, ISAC, GDA & More!

Inbäddad bildlänk

The gorgeous ladies of Sistar are all smiles (and kisses) backstage at SMA earlier this week, and what a busy week it has been. Not only has it been filled with different award shows but the recording of the annual program everyone loves to hate (or is the other way around?) ISAC, so many of the photos from this week will be from one of those occasions. But of course there are some ordinary, yet lovely, selcas and pictures of your favorite idols this week as well.

Top 10 Songs of 2015 - B-sides

It's not uncommon that a lot of the times I prefer a B-side on a group's new album to their promotional title track, in fact it happens a lot. The way I see it is that the title tracks, that the groups and soloists promote on shows is made to have a specific sound, one that is the most radio friendly and easy to sing along to. However this means that those songs often come across as generic, and especially compared to other songs on the album that are less contained and more unique and original. That was the case so much this year that I had to do two separate posts for title tracks and B-sides because there were so many great ones to pick from. So here they are below in no particular order; my favorite ones of 2015.

Top 10 Albums of 2015

This is what I've been waiting all year for; the "Best of" series! I'm going to kick it off with best album but unlike what I said I would do last year I will not be separating the albums into full and mini, because, well, there wasn't enough full albums that I liked. However there will be some restrictions for this list. For it to be counted as a mini album it has to contain at least four songs, excluding an eventual intro, because there were some that I liked but were a bit too short to be counted as a mini album to me. This will be in no particular order because it would be too hard, but here it is; my favorite albums of 2015!

SM's annual Halloween party is one of my yearly highlights, because everyone always has amazing costumes. Thus will this week's SNS Friday mostly include pictures either from the party or other Halloween photos, but I promise there will be some pretty selcas near the end as well! Above we see Tiffany takes a picture with the members of Red Velvet, who all look adorable.

TBT - Rainbow's "A"

Released: March 5, 2011

I'm honestly still bitter that this was, and still is, the main highlight of Rainbow's career. When "A" was released it was actually, as I've understood, quite popular in South Korea, and rightfully so. It's one of my favorite songs of theirs and favorite K-pop songs in general, and I remember being mesmerized by it when I first watched the video. Imagine what position they would have been in right now had DSP not been terrible at managing them. It's painful, really.

Rainbow's "Innocent" Hits All The Right Spots

tumblr_nk77poYPy31r27owuo1_540

It's clear that Rainbow needed a revival of some sorts, having spend years desperately trying to get their name out there without much success. It's always frustrating being a Rainbow fan simply because of how their 6-year old career has turned out, and never feeling like the girls get the promotion they need and deserve. While "Rainbow Syndrome" mostly wasn't really my kind of music, their titles in the past have been flawless and with this darker, maturer comeback I was intrigued to find out what gems were hidden on "Innocent".
